Investment Insight – Summer 2010

tiaacreffBrett Hammond just unleashed his new “Investment Insight – Summer 2010″.  Brett is the Chief Investment Strategist for TIAA CREF and provided some valuable insight as to the market this year… He had 4 basic topics of discussion.

1. Corporate profits and inventories: no more room to rise?

2. Consumer spending: middle-income Americans remain cautious.

3. Housing recovery: fits and starts

4. World Trade: U.S. exports rising, but for how long?

"The inability of the consumer to replace government spending, along with uncertainty about Europe, has brought volatility" - Brett Hammond, Chief Investment Strategist

Overall great insights and wonderful commentary as to the movement of the economy.  Can’t wait to see what comes next… If you would like to get the full version of this report go to http://www.tiaa-cref.org/public/advice-planning/market-commentary/market-commentary/articles/comm_005.html?tc_mcid=emNewsC48056a It’s not a long read but the knowledge and perspective given is well worth the time!

The 2010 World Cup

FIFA World Cup Image

I am very impressed by this year’s world cup marketing.  South Africa has done a great job promoting the event as well as ESPN broadcasting the event in the United States. The partnership with U2 for a newly created set of songs including S. African choirs was delightful and the graphics created by S. African committee were very cool indeed.  Check out the home of the world cup as well as a schedule of events at the link below.

New “RETWEET” function on Twitter

Retweet

Last week, like many, I was added to the Twitter Beta group given a new function RETWEET.  While Retweeting is no where near a new concept this new button makes it significantly easier and quicker to spread any word to your network.  The Retweet button has obvious benefits. Not only do you need not physically write the Retweet, but it maintains the author’s and content’s originality!  Great for those accounts that are plagued by plagiarizers.  This new social distribution tool on Twitter is great.  I’d love to see the analytics behind the button.  I imagine everyone is loving it as much as me!  For those of you not in the Beta group.  I sincerely believe the feature will soon be available for all Twitter users.

Where is Interactive Marketing Heading in 2010?

Omniture's Latest on Marketing Suites in 2010I received the above email today from Omniture and thought I would share.  If you hit the Download Now button you get the choice of a webinar discussing 2010 trends or a summary PDF.  Below you will find the PDF attached.

Omniture Report

The main take away for me was that online marketing suites are not longer an option or able to be disputed as having an integral role to a 2.0 business.  Look over the report.  It is a great analysis of what it means to have a online marketing suite and to use it effectively.
