Over the holidays my Christmas cactus bloomed and I was reminded of the importance and power of organic growth. My particular strain of Christmas cactus is over 150 years old and only blooms once a year. This beautiful metaphor reminded me of the importance for businesses (especially in the current economic environment) to remain diligent in internal programs and measures that promote organic improvements going into 2010.

Last week, like many, I was added to the Twitter Beta group given a new function RETWEET. While Retweeting is no where near a new concept this new button makes it significantly easier and quicker to spread any word to your network. The Retweet button has obvious benefits. Not only do you need not physically write the Retweet, but it maintains the author’s and content’s originality! Great for those accounts that are plagued by plagiarizers. This new social distribution tool on Twitter is great. I’d love to see the analytics behind the button. I imagine everyone is loving it as much as me! For those of you not in the Beta group. I sincerely believe the feature will soon be available for all Twitter users.

I don’t know if any of you watched the National Geographic Channel this past week. It was their Expedition Week. I was told by one of my photographer friends that it was taking place and became very interested. After looking over National Geographic’s website and seeing a few commercials I took an interest to the program that was on Wednesday at 9P.M. The same crew that found the Titanic was at it again! The episode was named “Deep Secrets: The Ballard Gallipoli Expedition” Dr. Bob Ballard who was the chief explorer led a team of researchers to search for British and French warships that sank during the Battle at Gallipoli – one of the bloodiest and most controversial campaigns of World War I. The episode was fascinating and was filled with so many great pictures and tidbits of history. If you have some extra time this week I recommend checking out the following link for pictures and more information:
